In the Footsteps of Lizzie Bennet

It's always difficult to plan holidays in the wedding season.

But the chance came a few weeks ago for a sneaky week away and we took it! As you may be aware I love Jane Austen. I read my well thumbed compendium once a year and love a good adaptation.

I seem to remember I wasn't alone in my admiration for Sue Birtwistle's Pride and Prejudice back in the 90s. Not only for the inspired casting of Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, but also for the stunning locations used. I have to confess that I've been chipping away at visiting all the houses, villages and countryside over the years; but had yet to tackle the Derbyshire leg.

So off we went, DVD and thermos in hand, to the Peak District. From the magical courtyard in Lyme Park to the breathtaking views over Ramshaw Rocks. What an amazing week. All that's left is a return visit to Bath during the Jane Austen festival. I'm still working on my husband to sport a top hat and pair of breeches. x
