My second August wedding at Oxnead Hall was a day of wows. Wow styling, wow light, wow atmosphere, wow emotion.
It was great to work alongside Mike Savory (film) for the first time and our day began in beautiful sunshine with Melissa and her supportive bride tribe. In amongst her prep I popped over to the Garden Cottage to see how Michael and his groomsmen were getting along. There was huge excitement in both locations and before long it was time for them all to get ready. Another wow was Melissa's dress, fitted to perfection, the epitome of elegance. It's no wonder her father burst into tears when he saw her.
Over at the church their guests were arriving and taking their seats amongst pretty surroundings decorated by the bride's mum. Melissa took the short walk across from the Hall and along the aisle with her still emotional father. During their rehearsal Michael couldn't get his vows right and as the nerves took hold he got in a muddle again - something Melissa will jokingly never let him forget - which created much laughter from everyone. After confetti everyone headed down to the parterre for drinks, canapés and merriment.
The styling of the Great Barn was another wow. Hues of blue and peach accented with copper tones and heaps of greenery. They interspersed their courses with the speeches, with all sorts of stories coming to the surface. By now the light was absolutely perfect and we headed into the garden chasing the light. I was pleased the fountain was turned on to create a series of magical portraits.
After cake cutting, they whirled into their first dance and I wanted to capture the expressions of their guests and atmosphere of the barn. The Good Times played some great tunes and it was great to see so many dancing the night away. It certainly was a day full of vows. Congrats M&M.
