Back at the end of September when we were still reaching for the sun cream (remember that?) I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the wedding of Hannah and Darren. I arrived early at the Cartshed as their ceremony was also early to maximise daylight in the schedule, it was lovely to see Tracey Ward on hair. Hannah has the most infectious smile and prep with her flower girls was an absolute hoot. The morning went so fast and I just had time to capture Hannah getting into her dress before heading off to Salhouse Church. Darren and his groomsmen were suited and suitably nervous, it's always part of my job to keep the guys occupied and happy before the guests take over. Hannah arrived in blazing sunshine and the ceremony was heartfelt and emotional with a visit to a much missed grandparent's grave afterwards. The church florals echoed the styling at Southwood in pretty pastel roses and big greenery. Their cake by Sassa's fooled everyone; exquisitely decorated bark in sugar craft.
Before their meal we took the opportunity to capture a few family formal portraits, leaving the remainder until the sun was setting after the meal. Their entrance to 'Eye of the Tiger' set the tone and Darren took an absolute ribbing during speeches. The best man took out his large red book and gave Darren his own 'This is Your Life' experience with a selection of enlarged photos from his youth walked around the barn. The evening light was magical and we explored the side garden ending with a re-creation of their engagement shoot piggy back! The sunset was pretty special too. By evening guests were arriving and it was lovely to be able to spend a little time with previous bride and groom Alexandra and Martyn. I'd been looking forward to their first dance all year, they'd been taking dance lesson in secret. Even with a little more dress to contend with, they whirled around the dance floor. The DJ ramped up the beats and I left the dance floor full, food being prepared outside and a bride and groom very much in love. Congrats H&D x
