Julie and David’s outdoor summer wedding at Cley Windmill was a wonderful day to capture. The weather was perfect for their planned outdoor ceremony and relaxed picnic theme.
They live on the south coast and chose the windmill as the perfect intimate and quirky venue for their family and friends. During our conversations it’s great to find common interests: archery is a shared passion. They wanted this to be a super relaxed day with little of the ‘formalities’ of weddings. They opted for a duo ceremony, saying their vows in the garden before making it legal inside. They walked down the aisle together and didn’t want a cake cutting or formal dining, choosing a picnic themed buffet and cake to be enjoyed at leisure. I adored their styling; Julie’s blue lined Mooshki dress and hot pink accented gerbera bouquet, David’s three piece navy Herbie Frogg suit and colour matched tie. This was such a fun look and perfectly suited their vibrant personalities. When you photograph people for the first time, getting them comfortable, relaxed and natural is key. Julie is a natural beamer and her smile lights up everyone around her.
We’d discussed various options of locations for their portraits within the time available. Julie had always wanted to go to the beach so after a few images on the balcony we headed down to a very busy car park and even people swimming in the sea. It was the most perfect wedding and I’m extremely honoured to photograph this wonderful couple’s story. Congratulations.
